'Yardie' describes the story of a courier carrying cocaine from Jamaica to London who decides to go it alone and disappears in Hackney.

Xpress was started in 1993 in Hoxton by two journalists with the publication of ‘Yardie’ by Victor Headley. The book’s success sparked a publishing revolution in Black popular writing. Xpress went on to become Europe's largest publisher of Black fiction, showcasing contemporary urban fiction from writers such as Michael Maynard.
