Description

A fabric star of David badge with traces of yellow dye and attached button. Jewish people throughout Europe were forced to wear a yellow Star of David on their clothes during the Second World War. The badge was used as a means of identification so that Jews could be segregated or discriminated against. Some Jewish people managed to flee to England, France and America, but around 6,000,000 Jewish people died in Germany between 1939 and 1945. This badge belonged to a Stoke Newington resident.
