“Translocations in the Wick forms part of an ongoing research project exploring processes of change in the Lea Valley.
It presents Hackney Wick’s erased, existing and emerging manifestations, including Ingram’s Indian Rubber Works, housing terraces, bomb-damaged streets, the Trowbridge Estate, warehouses and workshops, the Lea Navigation, Arena Fields, Clarnico Works and the new Energy Centre. This sequential representation is juxtaposed against the current emergence of the Park, the Broadcast and Press Centre, the Copper Box and the Athletes Village.
The work seeks to contextualise the present by positioning the current redevelopment of the area and its associated losses and gains, within a historical gaze of continual change, adaptation, and transformation.”
